APC advocates on behalf of marginalised peoples in the global South. However, its use of the term “global South” is relatively fluid. It refers to issues of social justice and the marginalisation of people and communities in countries typically identified as in the global South, but includes developed countries in the “global North” where similar and relevant social justice issues might emerge or groups and communities have allied experiences. For example, this includes the marginalisation of Indigenous peoples in Canada, or the social exclusions faced by Black people in New York, or working class people in London. APC's membership is predominantly from the global South, but a number of allies in the global North are also members.
