The Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) held the Awards Ceremony for the winners of the awards for gender, youth, media and poverty reduction. During the Awards Ceremony, APC executive director, Anriette Esterhuysen, and Women’s Programme coordinator, Chat Garcia Ramilo, announced the winners of the Gender and ICT Awards on behalf of APC with Nancy Hafkin presenting the trophies.
The Gender and ICT Awards had four categories and winners:
Outstanding Multistakeholder Initiative, Global or Regional: Women Mayors Link
Project of the Equal Opportunities for Women in Romania
Outstanding Multistakeholder Initiative, National or Local: Documenting
Experiences of Women in Situations of Armed Conflict in Uganda of the Isis
Women’s International Cross-Cultural Exchange in Uganda (Isis-WICCE).
Outstanding Community or Individual Initiative – Capacity Building: eSeva of
the West Godavari District, Government of Andhra Pradesh in India
Outstanding Community or Individual Initiative – Advocacy or Networking:
Nabanna of Change Initiatives in India
The winners of the youth, poverty reduction and media categories were also
awarded. The main objective of the GKP awards was to recognise and promote ICT
for Development Initiatives in order to inspire others to take on similar
initiatives. APC Women’s Networking Support Programme (WNSP) co-organised the Gender and ICT Awards with GKP.
The ceremony was hosted by the Executive Director of the GKP Secretariat,
Rinalia Abdul Rahim. Walter Fust, Director General of the Swiss Agency for
Development and Cooperation gave the closing remarks for the ceremony.
