APC will host Andrea Del Río, a participant in the 2015 Open Web Fellows programme, which is an international leadership initiative by the Ford Foundation and Mozilla. For the next 10 months, Del Río will use her cutting-edge technology skills alongside APC policy experts to safeguard the internet as a global public resource.

Other host organisations for the Open Web Fellows programme are the Massachusetts chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Free Press, Open Technology Institute and Public Knowledge.

Based in Lima, Peru, Del Río is a software developer with a passion for closing the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industries. She teaches programming to young women from vulnerable populations at Laboratoria in Lima, and is also the founder of coders.pe, an open online library of resources to learn how to code.

Look out for Del Río’s contributions to exciting online companions to APC’s existing advocacy campaigns, such as the African Declaration of Internet Rights and Freedoms and our Feminist Principles of the Internet.
