Access

All the information gathered in the GreeningIT directory is freely accessible. No registration is required to view, download and share the database.
If you know about relevant resources that you would like to include in the directory, you may do so after logging in, or creating a new user account here. More detailed instructions about how to add a resource can be found here: How to contribute.

Structure

The resources are organized in three main areas of initiative:
ICTs and Climate ChangeICTs and Environmental SustainabilityICTs’ Environmental Impact

Sub-categories

Each topic area is divided into sub-scategories. Resources may be listed under more than one topic area or sub-category. The contents of topic areas and sub-categories are described here .
You can navigate through the categories using the links in the right-hand side section of your screen (‘Area of initiative’). Alternatively, you can browse resources by keyword using the tag cloud which appears in the ‘Resource tags’ section on the right-hand side, under the list of categories.

Information about the resources

The following information is provided for each entry in the database:

  • title of the initiative
  • author/owner (developed by)
  • geographic location (region and country)
  • type of information available online (multimedia, documents, database, etc.)
  • type of access (open, restricted)
  • abstract (500 characters max.)
  • description (1500 characters max.)
  • website (title and URL)
  • contact information (name and e-mail)

and, in some cases:

  • a screenshot image of the resource
  • an attached file (usually a .pdf document).

Using the database

The entire database (excluding the description and contact information data fields) can be downloaded in .csv format by clicking on the image at the bottom of the page. This content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0, meaning that anyone is free to distribute and adapt the data, provided that it is shared alike and it is not used for commercial purposes.
